Tomorrow, July 5, marks the start of the XIII Latvian School Youth Song and Dance Festival. The visual identity for the event was created by the studio Kid Design, and it tells the story of the participants’ journey of learning, creative expression, and shaping Latvian culture. One of the authors of the visual identity is graphic designer Megija Jurevica. In the Nice Touch section, she talks about how to be active and overcome the introverted Latvian nature.
«Everyone needs a dog! My pooch Sherlock motivates me to go outside at all hours of the day and in all weather conditions when I would otherwise choose to stay at home or forget to take the very healthy break between work. Sherlock gives me the opportunity to see fantastic skies, fog covering the fields in the early morning hours, and even bats in the centre of Riga, which I would otherwise miss. While he sniffs around, I notice new nuances in my neighbourhood or in nature. And another thing — if you think Latvians are too introverted and reserved, try walking around with a dog! Smiles and conversations are guaranteed.»

Megija Jurevica worked at the KID Design studio for almost five years, working on both brand and packaging design projects. Megija has now joined the Kalve Coffee team, where she combines her duties as a designer with marketing management.
The philosophy behind the visual identity of the XIII Latvian School Youth Song and Dance Festival, created by KID Design, is centred on the celebration of doing and creating, as well as experiencing different stages of the journey.
