This year, landscape architect Linda Zaļā, author of the revitalisation concept for The Victory Park (Uzvaras parks) in Riga, took home the Latvian Landscape Architecture Award Grand Prix. Combining artistic vision, a sustainable approach, and thoughtful functionality, her studio, Zala Landscape Architects, creates beautiful and user-friendly outdoor spaces. In the Nice Touch section, Linda recommends a product that allows you to enjoy an unobstructed view from your window while protecting our winged friends.
«Birds are often my guests. Since childhood, I seem to see them more than others — unfortunately, also dead ones. Since I live in a house with large windows, the sound of «snowball» hitting the glass followed by satisfied cats arriving for the breakfast buffet had become a daily occurrence. Then I discovered the Birdpen UV reflective marker, which makes the glass visible to birds but remains almost invisible to humans. I use it regularly and recommend it to others. Draw snowflakes on the glass or write poetry — the most important thing for birds is that the lines are close enough to each other, especially in windows that reflect the sky. It really helps.»

Linda Zaļā has more than 20 years of experience in landscape architecture. Her studio, Zala Landscape Architects, implements outdoor space projects of various scales — from private gardens to large-scale public objects. This year, Linda received the Latvian Landscape Architecture Award 2025 Grand Prix for the revitalisation project of the Victory Park. She is also the author of the landscaping of the Ģenerāļa Radziņa embankment square, the Melluži concert garden and the greenery of the Great Square in Ventspils. You can read more about the projects on the Zala Landscape Architects website, where, along with other things recommended by Linda, the Birdpen marker is also available.
