Following its outstanding success at Milan Design Week 2025, the internationally acclaimed Baltic contemporary design exhibition Tactle Baltics will be on display in Latvia for the first time. From July 17 to September 3, the Civita Nova art space of the Great Amber concert hall in Liepāja will host the largest exhibition of contemporary Baltic design ever held in Latvia. Nineteen designers from Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia will participate in the joint exhibition.

Stories Editorial July 14, 2025

«This exhibition offers a glimpse into the soul of Baltic design — it is an intimate encounter with the language of design, rooted in the sensitivity in materials, form, and storytelling. The exhibition highlights a new generation of designers who explore identity, ecology, and cultural heritage in a personal and deeply felt way,» says Dita Danosa, project manager of Tactile Baltics in Milan and director of the Latvian Design Centre.

In Milan, Tactile Baltics was included in the prestigious MoscaPartners curatorial programme Variations and exhibited in the historic Palazzo Litta. Over the course of eight days, it was visited by more than 52,000 visitors and became one of the most memorable exhibitions of the Milan Design Week 2025. The exhibition was covered by leading international media outlets, including Wallpaper, Dezeen, Frame, Elle Decor, Domus, the Financial Times, and the New York Times. The exhibition particularly highlighted Baltic design’s sensitivity to materials, cultural heritage, storytelling, and the creative vision of a new generation of designers.

The Tactile Baltics exhibition features collectible design pieces — furniture, lighting objects, textile designs, ceramics, and home décor — that share a sustainable and circular approach, as well as experimentation with materials, with a particular focus on the tactile qualities of design. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to see how traditional craftsmanship in contemporary Baltic design is combined with modern technologies, revealing the interaction between form, functionality, and cultural heritage to create unique design objects.

The exhibition in Liepāja retains the content and scenography of the presentation in Milan, adapted to its new setting. The exhibition is curated by Dita Danosa (Latvia), Audronė Drungilaitė (Lithuania), and the design agency NID (Estonia). The exhibition scenography was created by Brigita Bula (Brigita Bula Arhitekti), while the graphic design was created by Kirils Kirasirovs (Augusts).

The Tacticle Baltics exhibition at the Civita Nova art space in the Great Amber concert hall is the most ambitious exhibition of contemporary Baltic design ever held in Latvia. «We are extremely honored that Liepāja and the the Great Amber concert hall have been chosen as the first venue in Latvia to showcase these highly acclaimed design works. The modern yet minimal architecture of the concert hall’s art space is the ideal platform for highlighting the creativity of Baltic designers,» says Timurs Tomsonss, chairman of the board of the Great Amber.

The Tactle Baltics exhibition will be on display at the Civita Nova art space in the Great Amber concert hall from July 17 to September 3. The exhibition will open on July 16 at 17.00, while on July 26 at 17:30, visitors are invited to explore the exhibition on a tour with the designers and curators.
