Mārtiņš Mežulis is a student at the Eindhoven Design Academy, an interdisciplinary designer and a prolific seeker of international creative opportunities, creating the new FOLD column «Support». In the section «Nice Touch», Mārtiņš talks about a digital information aggregation tool that he uses both at work and in academia.
««are.na» is a public online photo, document and article collection tool. In my daily life, both in academia and professional work, I have to browse through many different digital archives and artifacts. It has been my trusted ally both in archiving and collecting my own project notes and in finding those published by others. What sets it apart from other alternatives is its ascetic and accessible design — it doesn’t force ads or algorithmically selected content, but it keeps you in touch with other users and their published findings.»

Mārtiņš Mežulis has previously worked as a co-director of a non-profit non-governmental platform for young artists— there he first encountered international exchange and funding opportunities in the fields of culture and design, which he actively collects and publishes even now. Currently, he is most often found at the intersections between exact, natural sciences and design— in each of his latest projects, combining both techniques together, learning and using strategies, experiments and samples that belong to the laboratory environment.
