The sustainable fashion and youth culture platform Bourzma invites young fashion designers to apply for the Bourzma Boutique fashion show and competition, which will take place in Riga on May 21 and 22. The submitted collections must be made mostly from recycled textiles, and this year special attention will be paid to the practicality and wearability of the garments. Applications are open until April 6.

«Bourzma Boutique is a platform where young designers can not only showcase their vision but also become part of a creative community that supports bold ideas and a sustainable approach to fashion. We want to give emerging designers an environment where their work is appreciated and noticed,» says Patriks Kirkils, founder and creative director of Bourzma.

 

Participation in the fashion show gives young designers the opportunity to be noticed by both industry professionals and a wider audience. Participants will also compete for valuable prizes that can serve as a stepping stone for their future creative and professional growth. The ten strongest participants will be selected for the fashion show. On May 21, a jury of professional industry experts will evaluate the collections in person, paying particular attention to the creative concept, sustainability, and wearability of the collections.

Competition is open to emerging fashion designers from Latvia and the rest of Europe who focus on sustainable fashion and are at least 16 years old. Requirements for the collections submitted:

  • the collection must consist of 7–12 outfits;
  • 65% of the collection must be made from recycled materials;
  • the submitted works were created within the last year;
  • the collections must be suitable for wearing, with an emphasis on practicality.

In addition to the fashion show, the festival programme will feature creative and educational events, including sustainable fashion workshops, music production stations, designer showrooms, and the Bourzma Dance Battle, where dance, fashion, and music come together in a unified experience. The festival will conclude with an afterparty featuring local and foreign artists. The festival venue in Riga will be announced in the spring.
