The International Writers’ and Translators’ House, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, together with the Estonian Publishers’ Association and the Lithuanian Culture Institute, announces a competition to create a logotype and a slogan representing the Baltic Countries in the international London Book Fair 2018. Application deadline — June 30, 2016.

Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will be the guests of honour during the London Book Fair 2018, representing the achievements of book publishing and design of the Baltics, hosting readings, presentations and other cultural events in London and elsewhere in the United Kingdom.

The competition is announced to create a logotype and a slogan for the Baltic Countries as the Market Focus in the London Book Fair 2018. It is open to art professionals, and companies working with visual identity design, based in the Baltic region.

According to Dace Bargā, the representative of the competition’s organisers, the winner will receive a money prize of 1250 euros, and the winning ideas will be used to represent the Baltic Countries in all presentation materials, printed media, exhibitions, souvenirs, as well as in web and cityscape promotion materials, therefore the works submitted must be in line with current design trends.

In order to enter the competition, applicants must fill in the application form. The application must include full–colour, and monochrome sketches of the logo, well–formulated slogan, as well as an elaborate description of the underlying idea. The participation of Latvia in the International London Book Fair is organised by the International Writers’ and Translators’ House in collaboration with Latvian Publishers’ Association and Latvian Writers’ Union with financial support from Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia.
