For more than a decade, the Nature Concerthall, a musically and visually gorgeous performance, has taken a solid place in the summer event’s calendar of nature, music and art lovers. This year, located in Dviete and Burtnieki floodplains, it surprises with scenography created by the architect bureau «Didzis Jaunzems Architecture».

The Nature Concerthall is a multimedial nature–educational event that incorporates science, dramaturgy, music and art. Its aim is to bring attention to surrounding nature, to tell about things that usually go unnoticed and invite to be caring. This year, the «main character» and research object of the Nature Concerthall is Earthworm (Lumbricus Terrestris — Latin).

The pavilion–stage for the Nature Concerthall 2017 by architect Didzis Jaunzems and his team is designed as an art object that unifies architecture, music, science, video and light installation. A circular platform of 14m diameter is placed in 45–degree angle and works as a giant video projection screen, as a portal to the underground world and insights of the earthworm. The musicians are placed behind the portal in four floors and they can be seen to the audience through three openings in the circular platform. The load bearing structure is designed both vertically and horizontally as a structural grid of 2.5m, which is easy and quick to assemble and dismantle for the pavilion’s re–use in different locations.

The first Nature Concerthall 2017 took place in Dviete floodplain and the second one, in Burtnieki floodplain meadows, will take place this week, on June 30. The entrance is free of charge.
