Valdis Brože is the graduate of the Visual Communication Department of the Art Academy of Latvia, who works both in the field of fine art and contemporary jewellery. He often combines gold and silver with various gemstones and semi–precious stones, as well as works with enamel, playfully mixing colours in striking combinations.

While Brože’s latest collection «Imprint», which will be on view at the art gallery «Putti» this month, is rather temperate in terms of using the colour. It focuses on materials found in the territory of Latvia and the historical footprints left on our soil. «The forms that today seem natural and self–evident are formed in the processes of the past,» says Brože and explains that each piece displayed in the exhibition has its own story, a reflection of history embodied in a contemporary form.

«This will be my attempt to look back at the past. To go on a trip and tell what I’ve seen and found. To explore the reasons that have changed the environment and the reasons that have made me see the world as I see it and how I respond to it,» designer continues. To create «Imprint» Brože has used stone, fossilized wood, optical glass, serpentine, spinel and other materials in combination with silver and gold.

The exhibition «Valdis Brože. Imprint» will be on view from November 16 to 28 at the art gallery «Putti», Peitavas iela 5, Riga. More information on the exhibition and the artist is available on the homepage of «Putti».
