Since 2005, the contemporary jewellery artists Eero Hintsanen and Chao–Hsien Kuo (Chao & Eero) work together in their studio in Lahti in Finland, creating jewellery from precious metals and precious stones. Their work is based on knowledge of traditional jewellery and skilful handwork that is developed over the years. The exhibition «Love and Expertise» is the couple’s story of the love they share for each other and their common love for creating jewellery while «expertise» stands for the delicate and pedantic yet passionate approach to their creative process.

Chao’s works are fragile and feminine. She is inspired by the nature of Finland and tries to see the beauty in all seasons. «I want to capture the gesture of a flower and to depict the energy and liveliness of a plant,» says the artist, encouraging others to enjoy the simple moments of happiness in their daily life. Eero’s works, on the contrary, are elegantly rough and bold. This year, the Finnish Goldsmiths Association awarded him with the prestigious Goldsmith of the Year 2019 title. Eero Hintsanen has been working professionally as a designer, artist and goldsmith since 1999, focusing on collaborations with fashion designers, stylists and photographers. His personal projects reveal Eero’s interest in the Northern nature and ancient myths and legends.

The exhibition «Love and Expertise» will be open at the art gallery «Putti», Peitavas iela 5, Riga, from October 25 until November 19. More information on the exhibition and the artists is available on the homepage of «Putti».
