The European Commission invites organisations, institutions, universities, architects, designers, cities, regions, companies, artists, students, scientists, innovators and anyone interested to take part in the first Festival of the New European Bauhaus in Brussels from June 9 to 12 this year. Applications are accepted until March 21.

Stories Editorial March 16, 2022

The Festival of the New European Bauhaus brings together people from all walks of life to debate and shape our future. A future that is sustainable, inclusive and beautiful. It is a great opportunity to network, exchange and celebrate — from science to art, from design to politics, from architecture to technology.

The Festival offers many opportunities for individuals and groups to get involved. Whether you want to present a project or initiative at the Fair, showcase artistic or cultural performances at the Fest, or organise a side event in your own country, region or town.

Fair

The Fair consists of exhibitions across Brussels to showcase current projects and products that embody the values and principles of the New European Bauhaus. For example:

  • products or production processes that support the green transition in the construction or textile sector,
  • projects that work on circularity or the reduction of waste,
  • education and knowledge projects around the New European Bauhaus,
  • architecture that brings together sustainability, inclusiveness and aesthetics,
  • art projects that work on sustainability and climate change.

The fair will not only offer space for showcasing all these innovative examples. It will also offer opportunities to meet, interact and exchange ideas, bringing together different participants — artists, entrepreneurs, innovator, teachers, architects, students and inventors. More information about applying — here.

Fest

The Fest consists of a cultural programme with performances organised at the main venues of the Festival and across Brussels, alongside opportunities to meet, interact and exchange ideas. The organisers of the event invite cultural representatives, actors, artists, citizens associations, and others from the cultural and artistic sectors, especially young artists, to participate with their performances, objects, and creativity. The contributions can cover architecture and design, music, theatre or also a moment of conviviality to allow people from different backgrounds and sectors to meet and interact. More information about applying — here.

Side events

Events and initiatives organised independently in the European Union and beyond between 9 and 12 June 2022 are invited to join the Festival as Side events. Their core activities should be in line with the New European Bauhaus values. More information about applying — here.

Along with the Fair and the Fest, also a Forum will be held during the Festival of the New European Bauhaus. It will consist of a series of debates building on the key themes of the New European Bauhaus — sustainability, climate goals, circularity, zero pollution and biodiversity, aesthetics, quality of experience and style beyond functionality, inclusion, valuing diversity and securing accessibility, and affordability. The forum will feature speakers from around the world and will be organised both live and online, allowing everyone to take part in the debate.

You can apply for participation in one of the sections of the festival until March 21. More information about upcoming events — on the Festival of the New European Bauhaus website.
