Gabija Platūkytė, Head of Design at Great&Golden agency and curator of NAPA Baltic, comments that packaging is one of the most constantly changing areas of design: «It’s very interesting to see how design changes its face and adapts to the current circumstances. The NAPA Baltic competition aims to recognise the best design work, spot talent or producers who are responding to current trends and stand out in the industry. And if it also manages to improve business while maintaining the principles of sustainability — such solutions are particularly welcome. Having followed the competition since the first NAPA, it is encouraging to see that more and more participants from other Baltic countries are joining with strong entries. Another important aspect is the design community, where processes are discussed, and experiences or the latest design technologies are shared.»

This year, packaging design entries will compete in ten different award categories — fresh food, prepared food, confectionery, snacks & desserts, non-alcoholic beverages, low-alcohol beverages, high-alcohol beverages, health and beauty, private label, limited edition product, artisan product, and other products which do not conform to other categories or fall into more than one category. The best entries will be judged and shortlisted by an international jury of creatives and design professionals from the Baltic States.

Every year, the organisers of NAPA Baltic will present an exhibition of the selected works. Alongside the exhibition and the awards, NAPA Talks conference will take place, where international speakers, Baltic packaging designers, and creatives will share their experiences on the responsibility that surrounds packaging design. All the finalist entries, the conference, and the awards will be open to visitors and participants on 18 November at the MO Museum.

Last year, 83 packaging design entries competed in the NAPA Awards, of which 43 were shortlisted for the finals and 24 projects were awarded. Last year, the highest award went to two Lithuanian packaging designs.
