The CIRCE Fellowship Programme will support ten pilot projects related to the cultural and creative industries that aim to have a positive impact on society through innovative approaches. The fellowship is open to researchers and practitioners based in Europe whose field of activity is related to the creative industries. This year’s programme will focus on the transfer of research and knowledge into business, both commercial and non-commercial projects, that address important challenges in these areas:

  • Communities & Care — promoting empowerment of communities, fostering inclusion and social justice for marginalised individuals, contributing to a more inclusive cultural and creative economies and also to a more just world in general;
  • Susustainability & Environment — responding to climate crisis and biodiversity loss through sustainable practices within and through cultural and creative economies;
  • Democracy & Participation — enhancing democratic processes and preserving, bolstering, and safeguarding democratic principles, institutions, and practices in contemporary societies.

Proposed pilot projects should take a practical approach to research, focusing on the application and translation of knowledge into tangible results. The programme is open to those who want to test the results of their research in practice by implementing them in new services, processes, or products, as well as those who want to further develop existing projects that aim to make a significant contribution to a better society.

Each fellow will receive an appropriate grant to carry out a pilot project and document its progress and outcome over a period of five months, from June 1 to October 31, 2024. CIRCE also offers up to 500 euros per fellow for travel expenses to visit other fellows or attend CIRCE community events. Fellows will also receive mentoring support, the opportunity to participate in lectures, workshops, and discussions, and the opportunity to meet potential collaborators.

Registration for the Fellowship Programme is carried out in two phases: participants can register for the programme until April 16, and between April 16 and May 13, they must submit a detailed description of the pilot project concept as well as a CV.
